Mallorca sailing tour, private crewed sailing yacht under way off the Balearic coast
TSB Yachting · Palma de Mallorca

Mallorca
Sailing Tours

Private half-day, full-day and sunset sailing tours out of Palma, aboard a crewed yacht that belongs to your group alone for the hours you book. No shared decks, no fixed script, just the coast, the wind and a skipper who knows where to find both at their best.

The Difference Between a Sailing Tour and a Boat Full of Strangers

Search for a sailing tour in Mallorca and most of what you find is the same product wearing different branding: a catamaran leaving Palma Bay on a fixed schedule, forty or fifty tickets sold individually, a loudspeaker narrating a route that never changes, and your afternoon shared with whoever else bought a seat that morning. It is a perfectly reasonable way to spend three hours if that is what you are after. It is not what most people picture when they imagine sailing around Mallorca.

TSB Yachting runs the tour the other way round. Every sailing tour we operate is private: the yacht is hired for your group only, whether that is two people or twelve, and nobody else comes aboard. A professional skipper reads the actual wind on the day rather than following a printed circuit, which means the route genuinely changes with conditions: a fresh Embat sea breeze might mean a proper sail along the cliffs toward Sa Dragonera, while a lighter afternoon might turn into an easy run down the coast with more time anchored for a swim. You decide how much sailing you want and how much lying on deck with a drink you want, and the skipper builds the afternoon around that rather than around a timetable printed months in advance.

We are based in Puerto Portals, a fifteen-minute drive from Palma, and operate our own crewed sailing yachts rather than reselling slots on someone else's boat. That means the skipper you meet at the pontoon is the same person who will be sailing you all afternoon, the boat has been inspected and maintained by people who actually use it, and if you call with a question about tomorrow's tour, you get a straight answer from someone who was aboard yesterday's.

The Coast, Not a Fixed Loop

Because every tour is private, the route is a conversation rather than a printed leaflet. These are the stretches of coast we sail most often, and roughly how far each one sits from a typical half-day or full-day booking.

South-West
Cala Portals & Illetes

The closest good sailing water to Palma, reachable inside thirty minutes. Sheltered, clear and the standard route for half-day and sunset tours, with two or three small anchorages close enough together to try more than one in an afternoon.

West
Sa Dragonera & Port d'Andratx

A rocky, uninhabited island nature reserve off Mallorca's south-west tip, with cliffs that drop straight into deep water and a genuinely different feel from the marinas closer to Palma. A regular full-day destination, and one of the best stretches on the island for actual sailing rather than motoring.

North-West
The Tramuntana Foothills

Where the mountains meet the sea and the coastline turns dramatic: steep pine-covered slopes falling into water that stays a deep, clear blue. Reachable on a longer full-day tour with a good forecast, and worth the extra distance for anyone who has already done the south-west coast.

South
Cabrera Archipelago

A protected national park roughly ten nautical miles south of Mallorca, with water so clear it looks tropical rather than Mediterranean. A full-day option on the right conditions, and the single most memorable destination we sail to when time and wind allow.

Cockpit of a private crewed sailing yacht during a Mallorca sailing tour

Your Yacht, Your Pace, Your Afternoon

On a shared sailing tour, the boat leaves when the schedule says so, follows the route it always follows, and stops when the operator's clock says stop, regardless of whether the wind just picked up or your group would rather linger another twenty minutes at the last anchorage. None of that decision is yours.

On a private tour, every one of those calls belongs to you and the skipper together. Want to swim for longer and skip the second anchorage? Done. Prefer to actually helm the boat for half an hour instead of just riding along? The skipper will happily hand you the wheel. Travelling with young children, older relatives or someone who gets seasick easily? The pace adjusts around them rather than a printed itinerary.

It is also, simply, quieter. No tannoy, no forty strangers, no queue for the one toilet on board. Just your group, the crew, and a boat that is genuinely yours for the hours you have booked it.

Owner-Operated, Not a Booking Platform

Plenty of sites will sell you a seat on a Mallorca sailing tour without ever having set foot on the boat. We are the operator, not the middleman: our own yachts, our own skippers, based fifteen minutes from Palma.

⛵
Private, Always

Your group only, on every tour we run. No mixed bookings, no strangers on deck, no per-head pricing.

🧭
Read, Not Scripted

The skipper plans the route around the day's actual wind and your group's pace, not a fixed circuit repeated on a loop.

€
Clear, Itemised Pricing

One price for the whole yacht, agreed before you sail. Extras like catering or water toys are quoted separately, never sprung on you at the dock.

Skippers who sail this coast every week and know which cove is holding today, not a rotating agency roster.

Picking Your Tour Date

Mallorca sails well for most of the year, but the character of a tour changes a good deal between May and October. Here is roughly what to expect in each part of the season.

Quiet spring sailing tour anchorage near Mallorca
May & June

A dependable afternoon Embat sea breeze, warm air, and anchorages that are still quiet. Our own pick for anyone who wants a proper sail rather than a motor with the sails up for photographs.

High season sailing tour aboard a shaded sailing yacht in Mallorca
July & August

The warmest water of the year and the busiest anchorages. Sunset tours are the standout format in high summer: the wind eases, the heat drops and the light does most of the work. Book two to four weeks ahead.

September sailing tour in Mallorca with fewer crowds
September & October

Warm sea, reliable wind and a coastline that has emptied out. The best month-for-money stretch of the year and a strong contender for the single nicest time to sail around Mallorca.

Mallorca Sailing Tours: Your Questions

What is a Mallorca sailing tour with TSB Yachting?
It is a private sailing charter for your own group only, run by a professional skipper aboard one of our crewed sailing yachts out of Palma. Nobody joins you who is not already part of your party, unlike the shared "sailing tour" boats that circle the bay collecting separate bookings, the yacht is yours alone for the hours you book. You choose the format (a sunset sail, a half day or a full day along the coast) and the skipper builds the route around the actual wind and your group's pace rather than a fixed script read out over a speaker.
How much do Mallorca sailing tours cost?
A private sunset sail starts from around €750, a half-day tour of roughly four hours from around €950, and a full day of six to seven hours from around €1,500. Every figure is for the whole yacht, not per person, which is the opposite of most shared sailing tours sold by the seat around Palma Bay. The price includes the skipper, the boat, fuel where relevant, safety equipment, snorkelling gear and soft drinks; catering, premium drinks and water toys beyond the standard set are quoted separately and agreed before you sail, so there is nothing added at the dock.
Where do the sailing tours around Mallorca go?
Out of Palma, most half-day and sunset tours head along the south-west coast toward Cala Portals, Illetes and the cliffs beneath Sa Dragonera, where the water is sheltered and the anchorages are close together. Full-day tours reach further: north toward the Tramuntana coast and Port d'Andratx, or south to the Cabrera archipelago on a longer run when the forecast allows. The exact route is never fixed in advance; the skipper reads the wind and the group on the day and chooses accordingly, which is the main advantage of a private tour over a scheduled one.
Do I need sailing experience to join a Mallorca sailing tour?
No. Every tour is fully crewed by a professional skipper who handles the boat from start to finish, so you can sit back and watch the coast go by, help trim a sheet if you want to, or do nothing at all. Guests who have never set foot on a sailing yacht are the majority of who books this, not the exception. Children, non-swimmers and older guests are all welcome, and the skipper will adjust the pace, the point of sail and the anchorages to suit whoever is aboard.
When is the best time for a sailing tour in Mallorca?
May, June, September and the first half of October give you the most reliable sailing wind: the Balearic Embat, a thermal sea breeze that fills most afternoons without the crowded anchorages of high summer. July and August still sail well and the water is at its warmest, but book your slot two to four weeks ahead and expect the popular coves near Palma to fill by late morning. Sunset tours run well from May through to early October and are the single most requested format across the whole season, since the wind is usually easing and the light along the coast is at its best in the final two hours before dark.
