Your yacht, your route, your helm. Skipper a vetted boat from Palma with a proper handover, honest local advice and the freedom of the whole Balearic coast.
A bareboat charter in Mallorca means you hire the yacht without a professional skipper or crew. You are the captain: you plan the route, choose where to swim and anchor, decide when to sail and when to stay in port, and carry responsibility for the boat and everyone aboard. For qualified sailors it is the purest way to experience the island, because the timetable is entirely yours. If a sunrise swim off Cala Mondragó appeals more than a fixed itinerary, bareboat is the format that makes it possible.
Mallorca is one of the best places in the Mediterranean to charter without a crew. The Bay of Palma is wide, well-marked and sheltered from most winds, so it makes a gentle first day. Beyond it, the south-west coast towards Port Adriano and Sa Dragonera offers deeper water and dramatic cliffs, while the south-east is a string of white-sand calas that are best reached by sea. Marinas are plentiful and well equipped, distances between harbours are short, and the summer breeze is usually moderate, which is why so many experienced skippers choose the island for a first Mediterranean charter.
TSB Yachting arranges bareboat charters from our base at Puerto Portals, Palma. Before you book, we ask for your qualification and recent sailing experience, so that we match you to a yacht that is comfortable for your crew and within your abilities. On the day, a member of our team walks you through the boat: engine, electrics, anchor, sails or helm, safety kit and tender. You leave with a clear plan, a weather outlook and a short list of anchorages and marinas suited to your dates. We are only a call away if conditions change.

A full day in the Bay of Palma or along the south coast. Ideal if you want to test the boat and the conditions before a longer trip.

Two or three nights hopping between calas and marinas, with time to cook on board, swim at dawn and sleep at anchor.

The full flotilla-free experience: circle Mallorca, visit Cabrera with a permit, or cross to Ibiza and Formentera in settled weather.
Bareboat charter is rewarding because it is demanding. Here is what we look at before confirming a booking, so that your week begins with confidence rather than questions.
A licence that covers the yacht's size and the area you plan to sail, such as a PER or PNB, an RYA Day Skipper or Yachtmaster, or an ICC.
A short sailing CV or logbook showing time at the helm and in marinas. It lets us match you to the right boat and tell you honestly if a skipper would help.
Ideally two people who can handle lines, the anchor and the helm. A solo skipper with an inexperienced crew may be better served by a skippered charter.
A thorough technical and safety briefing before you cast off, covering engine, electrics, anchor, safety kit, tender and emergency contacts.
A security deposit is held against damage or loss and returned after the end-of-charter check. The amount depends on the yacht, and we state it up front.
Skippers are expected to read forecasts and change plans. We share local advice on winds such as the Tramuntana and sea breezes, and we stay reachable.
Start with the Bay of Palma and the coves along Cala Blava and Cap Enderrocat for an easy first day. Head south-west to Port Adriano, Santa Ponsa and Sa Dragonera for bolder scenery. Experienced crews on a week's charter can explore the quiet south-east calas, reach Cabrera, or in settled weather cross to Ibiza and Formentera. Read our guide to the best anchorages in Mallorca to plan your stops.
Two local rules matter. Cabrera is a national park, so anchoring and mooring there need a permit arranged in advance. And across the Balearics, anchoring on posidonia seagrass is restricted, so we brief you on sand patches and public mooring buoys. Prefer to hand over the navigation? We charter these waters every week and know each coast in every wind.
Every yacht is personally inspected and ready for a safe, comfortable trip.
We tell you plainly if a skipper would make your trip better, and arrange one if so.
Boat, deposit and extras confirmed together, with no surprises on arrival.
The bareboat season runs from April to October. May, June and September combine warm water, settled weather and fewer boats at anchor, while July and August are the hottest and busiest, so reserve marina berths and your yacht early. Pack soft-soled shoes, sun protection, a light waterproof and your licence, passports and sailing CV. We can provision food, drinks and water before you arrive so you step aboard ready to go.
